It is not actually an Agate as it lacks the striped patterns indicative of true Agate but is considered an agate due to its likeness in composition. Moss agate is a type of Chalcedony, belonging to the quartz family.
 
Moss agate is said to encourage tranquillity. It exudes a strong feeling of nature, therefore making it an excellent grounding crystal.
